Hello,
I presently live in Florida. I grew up in California and
loved music since I was a child. I first learned to play the
piano and liked to compose music. Later in middle school I
learned to play the silver flute. Years later I took music
composition in college for two semesters. But I found that
I mostly enjoy just playing and writing music from my heart.
In 1998 I was introduced to the haunting sound of the Native
American flute when I was at a drum circle with some friends.
It was "love at first sound"!!! I was totally captivated
by the beauty of the Native American flute. I just had to
have one! And so my life changed forever.
Playing the Native American flute has had a profound effect
on my life. It has been very healing for me in many ways,
and has set me on a new journey of life. I find playing the
Native American flute to be a very spiritual experience, by
its healing musical properties, which I love to share with
others.
I play at weddings, and at some Native American festivities,
and also I play regularly at many different nursing homes.
The music I bring there to the older generation brings to
them the beauty of the inner spirit which is so beautifully
expressed with the Native American flute, and they really
enjoy it.
Most of the music I play is improvisational. I do have certain
songs that I have composed that I have committed to memory.
But I rarely play them exactly the same way twice.
I love to be moved by the "present moment" and let
my spirit blend with the energy around me and with Creators
Spirit, and let the music be born in the moment. I find it
most powerful that way.
I hope you will continue to enjoy the song of my heart in
the music I play, and that you will experience the beauty
of your spirit through sound.
In Peace and Light,
Neoka
